Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar lost his cool over reports about his premature exit from a recent state cabinet meet, making it clear that there are no divisions in the Mahayuti combine of BJP, Shiv Sena and his NCP parties. Pawar also got a chance to clarify his stand as the newcomer actor Sayaji Shinde joined NCP after meeting Pawar Press conference was held for this purpose only.
Pawar said that he left that cabinet meeting early because he had an appointment to attend in Ahmedpur, Marathwada. He added that any cabinet decisions made in his absence had his blessings; hence, there was no cause for alarm. “I had to go somewhere at a program but I know the agenda, and there’s no problem with anything that was done after I left,” he said this one dismissing any perception that he was bitter or unhappy with the decisions made.
Speaking to the rumours that he was noticeably absent, the Deputy Chief Minister and finance minister lamented that most financial decisions were made after he left for the meeting. Ajit Pawar, quick to dismiss the speculation of divisions within the Cabinet, dismissed the matter, saying, “There is no problem, everything is fine, there is no division, it is all rumours.”
He went further ahead and said that any objection from any department on the matter is not final, including his own department of finance, especially where popular political programmes are announced, which are usually done before assembly elections. This statement seemed to answer fears that internal opposition, especially from the finance department, would frustrate the government’s capacity to implement welfare schemes.
Fielding questions on the distribution of seats for the upcoming elections among the partners of the Mahayuti alliance, Pawar said that the talks were going well. He ensured that the result would be taken to the public domain once the result was ready.
