Korba: The case under discussion proves that reckless parking of a vehicle along the side of the road leads to a severe accident again. In the most recent case, a car struck a trailer crowd, and seven people were wounded, one of whom was a former Congress councillor. Fortunately, however, the car airbags went off in time to save the driver. Had the airbags failed to inflate, the end result could have been a lot worse.
The accident included Gopal Kurre, the former Congress councillor from the Mudapar ward of Korba, and his family from a trip to the temple in Naila. The accident happened on Kanaki main road as their car rammed into a stationary truck (Hyva). The effect was that all passengers were locked in the car. People realised fast, pulled the occupants out, and took them to the district hospital for treatment.
Hunt reported that Gopal Kurre, his wife, sister, and niece were in the car during the accident as drivers. The passenger’s name is Jeevan Das. He was lucky to survive a severe accident because the airbags were used at the right time. Nevertheless, Gopal Kurre sustained dangerous head injuries, and the woman and her daughter and niece, who were also in the car, were injured. Seven people were taken to the hospital with injuries, and the car’s impact was severe in the accident.
Persons who testified in the case suggested that the carriage trailer had overturned in the wrong direction on the roadside. Dust and darkness were the two other factors that added to the accident since the driver in the car could not see the arriving trailer. After getting the information about the above crash, Sarvamangal outpost in-charge Vaibhav Tiwari reached the spot, collected the details of the mishap and looked into the well-being of those injured.
