Bijapur: The criminal incidents performed by the Naxalite have surfaced today as five security personnel were injured in the IED blast made by the Maoists. The affected soldiers have been taken to the facility, which is a nearby hospital, for treatment of their injuries. The Police officials, including Bijapur’s superintendent of police, Jitendra Yadav, corroborated the shooting.
The event took place in the morning after the CRPF personnel of the Chinnagelur camp in the Tarrem police station area of Bijapur district had been in an area domination exercise. Approximately 350 meters from the camp, Maoists laid an IED, which detonated, inflicting five soldiers. Their fellows called for an ambulance and moved them to the nearest camp for treatment. SP Jitendra Yadav said that after initial treatment, the injured soldiers were being shifted to the district hospital. Those injured in the attack belong to the 153 Battalion of the CRPF and include ASI Saket, Inspector Sanjay, CT/ DH Pawan Kalyan, CT/GD Lochan Mohata, and CT/GD Dule Rajendra.
Thankfully, from the information received, all five soldiers are stated to be off the danger list and recovering well. The blast happened in a Naxalite-affected part as Maoists often resort to such acts to attack the security forces mobile in the area. This unfortunate event underscores the dangers security officers deputed in the affected Naxal areas of operation where IEDs are frequently used to carry out ambushes.
After the attack, security forces further up the ante in combing operation in search of Maoists who laid the explosive. The region is surrounded by a heightened level of security, and much is being done to protect the people working at the site and civilians living nearby. It has further intensified the fight between security forces and a Naxalite ultraleft-wing Maoist guerrilla group in the area.
