On Thursday, the Bombay High Court reopened its hearing regarding the ban on release of Emergency, the highly anticipated movie starring Kangana Ranaut.

This time, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) declares that Kangana Ranaut’s movie, Emergency, can be released. But a few cuts should be made, as recommended by the Censor Board’s review committee. In front of Justices BP Colabawala and Firdaus Poniwala’s bench, the board made this statement.

Zee Entertainment Enterprises, the film’s co-producer, had filed an appeal in the HC, seeking direction from the court to the CBFC to issue the certificate. Regarding this movie, there were claims that the Sikh community was portrayed incorrectly. After this, the controversy intensified, leading the censor board to postpone the release.

“We filed our application with the Film Certification Board on August 29 itself. However, we haven’t been able to obtain the censor certificate from the board till now,” Zee Studios claimed in court.

The matter was then scheduled for another hearing by the bench for September 30.

Zee Entertainment claimed last week that the certificate was being withheld because of forthcoming elections in Haryana and political motives.
