A mishap or stone pelting was reported in Ara village when a Ganesh idol was taken on Visarjan in which a 15 years of age girl was grievously injured. This continued to generate tension in the village as the situation became worse within a short span of time. The girl who was badly injured in the act of violence has been named Sheela Yadav, who received grievous head injuries. She was quickly taken to the nearest hospital, where it was said that she was in stable condition.

After the reported incident, several calls from the local villagers led to the formation of a mob at the Barion police outpost to take action against the culprits. The police questioned the case seriously and filed a complaint from four persons named Hashib, Imam, Ittakhab, and Islam and started investigating the case.

There are accounts that suggest that the violence erupted during Ganesh idol Visarjan processions, which angered villagers and brought a lot of fear. The situation became tense, and stoning followed payable to shooting; several people were wounded, with Sheela Yadav being the most severe.
