Amit Shah, Union Home Minister, revealed on Tuesday that the decennial exercise will begin soon and that more information will be provided after the formal announcement. These were said during a press conference to mark 100 days of PM Narendra Modi’s third term while the NDA rules at the Centre. “This will be done soon”, said Shah in the National Media Centre while announcing the census.

He further assured the public that he would publish all the information as soon as the actual census is conducted. The decennial census had earlier been behind schedule with the original deadline having been moved forward from December 31, 2020, to December 21, 2021, and then June 30, 2022, shifting to December 2022.

First of all, the first part of Census 2021 comprised of house listing & Housing Census, which was planned to be conducted within 45 days between April 2020 across States & UTs. Population enumeration was then set for 09 February to 28 February 2021.

Apart from the census, Shah stressed the achievements of the Modi government in its first hundred days in power. He highlighted the political stability that the country is having and said, “For the fist time after 60 years, political stability situation prevailed in the country add with continuity of policies. ”

The Home Minister also welcomed the assertiveness of India’s foreign policy and the zeal of the government to improve both internal and external security structures and the country’s arrangements. He said the NDA government has approved LWSE infrastructure of 3 lakh crore, given relief to the middle class on taxes, and initiated different schemes such as insurance cover for citizens above 70 years of age.

Speaking about recent train accidents, Amit Shah said that train protection is another scheme that the government is currently developing for future incidents and proved that the administration pays much attention to it.
