Former United States President Donald Trump, who is the Republican presidential nominee, and the incumbent Vice President of America, Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, are expected to meet in the first debate today, September 10 (local time), or September 11, as per the International Standard Time (IST). This is a much-anticipated debate organized by the ABC channel before the November 2024 US presidential elections, and it is being held at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.

In order to analyze the developing debate, it is necessary to first assess the positions of both candidates in the scale of the United States of America at the moment. This poll shows that Trump is falling when he is ready to battle it out with US President Joe Biden Cuh, which is a sign of change as Kamala Harris enters the fray. Harris’s entry into the campaign has changed its dynamics; first, it increased her momentum when she joined the race. However, This momentum has been cut short; instead, the two candidates are neck and neck. This is the finding of a survey conducted earlier today on September 10, which shows that both Trump and Harris are virtually neck and neck.

An AP-NORC poll conducted in August revealed that though Americans trust Trump more in economic matters, Harris has been improving in other aspects. In a survey released on September 8 by The New York Times/Siena College, 28% of the likely voters said they wanted more information on Harris, while only 9% desired more information on Trump. The same poll gave Donald Trump a slight primary lead over Harris, with only 48 percent of the vote, and 47 percent for Biden among 1,695 registered voters. Taking into account the fact that the margin of error was 2.8 percent, this means that the race is closely fought and could go either way.

On the other hand, Harris managed to have a slight lead in the Emerson College poll, where she was 49%, and Trump’s 47%. It has been a very closely contested race, and as the candidates await their first Presidential Speech of the campaign, a more closely contested race is being witnessed.
