Reacting to the remarks of the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, that Sikhs in India were being demolished, BJP spokesperson RP Singh on Tuesday dared Gandhi to repeat what he had said while threatening to depose him in court. Singh talked about the riots of 1984 in Delhi in which nearly 3,000 Sikhs were murdered while the Congress party was in power. He described the act of violence by the Indian government and said, “3000 Sikhs were massacred in Delhi; their turbans were taken off, their hair was chopped off, and their beards were shaved. ” He said, “I was a witness to this carnage and was staying in Delhi at that time,” while accusing Rahul Gandhi of being ignorant of the fact that Congress was in power in India during the time of the Sikh killings.
This was in response to Rahul Gandhi of INDIA, who is currently on a tour of the United States of America, having commented on the continued struggle for Sikh rights, saying that the essence of this fight is whether the community will be allowed to wear a turban; carry a kada and visit Gurdwaras in India. He said this fight is not political; it is skin deep, for he continued, “It is about the rights of the Sikh people but on extension the rights of all religious people. ”
Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Union Minister, condemned Gandhi for his comments and stated that Gandhi has duties of LOP to perform. Chouhan posed that Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who once used to be the Leader of the opposition, had never threatened the Indian government with such a plan while on foreign soil. Notably, Rahul Gandhi’s constant losses appear to have created anti-BJP feelings, prompting him to besmirch the nation’s image, Chouhan further said.
He underlined that distorting the image of India was a betrayal and raised doubts concerning Gandhi’s intentions of Canadian unification. He concluded by stating that while Gandhi started his Bharat Jodo Yatra, he did not create an appeal to the people of India or India itself.
