In the Orang National Park area of Assam, a gruesome death involved a 25-year-old man who was a guard in the park and who was found dead on Wednesday evening with his body only hours after he was reported missing on duty. Deka, a local of Sipajhar of Darrang district, had been declared missing around 6 pm, and the body was recovered around 10:30 pm informed the officials.

It was discovered approximately 50m from his original post of duty, The body showed signs of violence, and there were deep cuts, which indicated that the man had a rough time with the wild animals. Some parts of the body of the dead were missing, and the other injuries on the body suggested that the man had been killed by a wild animal or tiger, as per the initial findings of the forest department.

Darrang SP, the forest department, has done their investigation, and according to that, they found that the were dragged from behind and killed by the tiger. The body has been taken for an autopsy, and as waiting for the results, the cause of death is yet to be ascertained. However, the forest department is in the process of establishing the cause of the event.

Some of the family members were furious and concerned as Deka was on duty alone with no weapon to defend himself from those risks. They questioned the management of the department to post a single guard at a place that they considered a risky zone for animals, including tigers that are known to attack humans. They have demanded that an inquiry be conducted to bring those responsible for booking and avoid any such occurrence in the future.

The incident has provoked anger among the Sipajhar community in Assam, who want adequate compensation for the family of Deka. They have also wanted the forest department to wake up and be more sensitive and responsible in assigning their guards, especially in the most vulnerable regions. Forestry authorities have said that the case is being investigated and that the operation will ensure tighter protection for their employees in the future.
