The sequel Stree 2 was released, and within the first week, it collected a good amount and, on the 14th day, occupied a bad business. This John Amar Kaushik-directed film collected Rs 23 lakh on the second Wednesday of its release, adding more numbers to the tally, says the industry insiders. However, the horror-comedy has made a good overall amount of around Rs 414.76 crore at the domestic box office.

Stree 2, which started airing on August 15, is a sequel to the hugely popular horror-comedy Stree. In the lead roles, the movie features Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor as in the previous part. Other roles are played by Aparshakti Khurrana, Abhishek Banerjee, Pankaj Tripathi, Vijay Raaz, and Varun Dhawan, who has come specially for a cameo role. Signed by Dinesh Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande in the production of Maddock Films and Jio Studios, respectively, the film has stirred the interest of the spectators for the combination of horror and comedy that has become the tradition after the first Stree movie.

When Stree 2 was released, there was much competition as there were other big films like John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh’s Vedaa and Akshay Kumar and Vaani Kapoor’s Khel Khel Mein. In this regard, more players continue to develop their movies and streamline them to appeal to the public, but the film has done well at the box office, showing its demand.

Movie performance on day 14 also shows us the usual mid-week slump observed in most box office collections. However, such overall earnings are still indicating its popularity and the proper strategies of selling and manufacturing carried by its dedicated team. With Stree 2 still a part of the ongoing theatres and still out in the market, the movie is still a determinant of the current movie landscape and a continuous boost for the horror-comedy genre in Bollywood.
