During a key state executive committee meeting with office bearers of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), Shiv Sena had declared that the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) wanted the alliance to announce the chief ministerial face in advance of the Maharashtra assembly elections. Thackeray then said that the party should declare a CM candidate, unlike the previous alliances, especially the BJP alliance.

The analysis of Thackeray’s perception of the system showed that he was against the decision-making that vested the position of the chief minister within the party, having the most number of the MLAs since he remembered cases where the practice caused internal struggles and attempts of subversion of the allies. He maintained that this has frequently precipitated unhealthy interaction within the alliance and retarded the advancement of the alliance in unison.

Speaking about the previous experience with the BJP, Uddhav Thackeray stated that the party with the most MLAs always dominates and is seen as undermining the other parties, which is not a model that should be continued. He proposed that this one should be more strategic in so far as the MVA sitting down and agreeing on one candidate most suitable for the said alliance.

Thackeray also gave his nod to support any candidate projected by both Congress or NCP as the issue here is to protect the dignity of Maharashtra and ensure that its interest is safeguarded during the election. He condemned the current system that resulted in the division of factions within the state and reiterated his dedication to the state’s interest and not self-interest.

Besides all these, he has touched upon numerous subjects, such as preventing the encroachment of temples or waqf lands. He demanded an inquiry into the dealings involving land in Ayodhya and charged that there was embezzlement regarding the Kedarnath temple. Such observations can be attributed to his general plan of eradicating what he considers as corruption and the protection of religious shrines.

The meeting also had NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule appealing to the MVA leaders to hasten to carve the seats.
