Raipur: The Chhattisgarh government is all set to embark on a new scheme which will ensure that the issues about the families of martyrs can be addressed with more priority. In this regard, it has now been considered that IGs of respective ranges will sit with martyrs’ families every second Wednesday of the month to hear their complaints. Also, meetings with the Director General of Police (DGP) will be conducted via video conference, and the meeting will be held on the same day.
The program was organised at Amar Jawan Shaheed Complex in Mata Lona Hall, where minister Vijay Sharma, Deputed Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh & Home Minister, addressed families of martyrs. He said that these families are part of those courageous men and women who laid down their lives in the pursuit of democracy. “The families, who have lost their members while guarding the nation, deserve our respect and appreciation. The sacrifice you have made is encouraging for every one of us,” Sharma added. To avoid further delay in addressing martyr families’ issues, the government has decided that IGs at least, hear their issues on a monthly basis and while talking with the DGP, they can use video conferencing.
In addition, the government has agreed to give certificates to all martyr families. As for the families that have yet to receive the Rs. 25,000 grant for educational expenses, necessary measures will be taken to address this problem effectively. Memorials for all martyrs will be constructed, and the work is in progress. There are also attempts to formalise compassionate appointments and other perks for the families. The Home minister is confident that the entire Bastar region will soon attain the phase of peace and will scale a new high of development. All this, he said, will be brought about by the martyr families’ contributions and sacrifices.
Also, during the event, Home Minister Vijay Sharma not only had a word with the victims of Naxal violence but asked about their conditions.
