Indore: Currently, there is a sequence of demanding a registration case of sedition against Congress leader Sajjan Singh Verma led by BJP leader Sumit Mishra. A letter was written to Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav by Mishra demanding that they act against Sajjan Singh Verma. The cases of violence and unrest, according to Mishra, have been instigated by Verma, comparing the situation in India to that of Bangladesh.

As Mishra noted, there are allegedly the words uttered by Verma to imply that perhaps now people in India can also intrude into the Prime Minister’s residence, like in Bangladesh. Mishra angrily denounced these remarks and said that they were an effort to bring disharmony to the country, and they squarely fall in the category of sedition. He also tied Congress for promoting terror, stating that Congress workers have been collecting funds from anti-India elements like Zakir Naik and the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation. Mishra was of the opinion that such funding is being channeled to sponsor problems and social unrest in the country.

Sajjan Singh Verma, in his recently reported statement, has apparently linked the protest to some of the incidents in Bangladesh, including demonstrators’ active intrusion into high-security zones, including the Prime Minister’s and the President’s residences. The phrase coined on behalf of Verma about India’s similar incidents to Mishra finds it a highly provoking and unfriendly statement.

The things said by Verma may pose a certain threat to internal security and can provoke inter-communal clashes; that is why the Indian journalist Sumit Mishra turned to the Home Minister and the Chief Minister. He calls for a tough approach to curb conduct, which is regarded as a stepping stone to the promotion of even harsher tones, which he considers destabilizing society and the polity of the country. The demand put forward by Mishra for legal proceedings presents the background political context and continuous concern for legal actions against statements made by political personalities.
