Following Manu Bhaker’s giving the first medal to India on Sunday, more opportunities are expected for Indian athletes on Day 3 at the Paris Olympics to seal more medals for their country. This will be in the shooting events where Ramita Jindal and Arjun Babuta shall be participating in their respective finals. Another Indian shooter who is set to compete on the last day is Ramita Jindal in the women’s 10-metre air rifle. Jindal will be eyeing her first Olympic medal and second for India after she ended fifth in the qualification round.

Later in the day, Arjun Babuta will also be in the fray for a medal in the men’s 10m air rifle final. Other Indians will also be in action at the qualification events today. Sarabjot Singh and Manu Bhaker will be in the mixed 10m air pistol team event, apart from Arjun Singh, in the same event. At the same time, Rhythm Sangwan and Prithviraj Tondaiman would be in men’s trap qualification.

Badminton & Hockey Matches at Paris Olympics

In badminton, hot favourite Ashwini Ponnappa & Tanisha Crasto will pray that they get over their first group match setback & trounce their second group matches opponents. Lakshya Sen, who got a walkover win from Kevin Cordon but lost that result because Cordon withdrew from the games, will also, in his second group match, bid to get his rhythm back.

The men’s hockey team has a significant group-stage match against Argentina; according to what is expected, this match should be very close and might even turn out to be a thriller.

Archery and Table Tennis

During the last events of the day, one will be privileged to watch the archery contests. The men’s team of archery will be seen in the match of quarter-final round between India and Kazakhstan where Tarundeep Rai, Dhiraj Bommadevara, and Pravin Jadhav will be performing. If they progress then they will also be involved in the semi-final and the medal matches which are also to be held on the same day.

In other ongoing games, Sreeja Akula also performed brilliantly in the round of 64 table tennis and the women’s singles would be occurring in the round of 32 shortly. The day promises to be a busy one by any measure, and sports lovers will certainly not be short-changed as quite a number of activities are slated for the day.
