According to an official on Tuesday, the Gurugram police have detained a 24-year-old employee of a private hospital in Sector 51 on suspicion of raping a 50-year-old woman from Kazakhstan who was receiving treatment following knee surgery.
Thakur, who goes by his first name, was arrested the same day the alleged incident, according to police, occurred at Artemis Hospital on Sunday morning. He is from Khairtal in Rajasthan’s Tijara district.
The woman was admitted to the hospital on July 9 for knee surgery, according to a senior police officer. “On July 13, she underwent surgery and was alone in the room. Early in the morning, when she was sedated, the attendant sexually assaulted her.The woman set off an alarm and told her daughter, who notified the police,” police officer said.
According to police, a team from the Sector 50 police station arrived at the scene, took the woman’s testimony, and filed a complaint in accordance with Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Section 64(2)(e).
The administration of the hospital stated, “Patient safety is the top priority of Artemis Hospital at all times. In response to this accusation, we promise to use every resource at our disposal to guarantee that all parties are treated equally and that a comprehensive and impartial inquiry is carried out in order to bring about the triumph of justice and the truth. He would be temporarily out of service until the conclusion of the investigation.”
