Kolkata: A shocking event took place early Saturday morning in the town of West Midnapore in the state of Bengal, where at least six people died – two of them being women – while two others were injured in a crash between an ambulance and a truck. The accident occurred at 11:45 PM; trying to reach Midnapore from Ghatal, an ambulance carrying a patient and eight other people came across a truck laden with cement sacks moving in the opposite direction. The truck driver escaped after the accident, and there were no official statements from him, but the information from the Keshpur police station in West Midnapore reveals this.
Aftermath of the Accident
Five people died at the scene of the accident, two of them women and one more man later died in the hospital; therefore, six people died in the accident, as a policeman connected to the case stated. The accident occurred around a bridge area and a turn, contributing to the force level upon impact.
Out of the two injured people, one was said to be in critical condition, and the other had multiple bone fractures but was said to be stable by the policemen on the scene. The injured parties have been admitted to the Midnapore Medical College and Hospital for medical requirements and treatment.
Investigation Begins
This has brought out the dangers of road transport and the disastrous effects of such eventualities that prompt the need to improve the measures taken and observe the right ones while on the road. Currently, the exact circumstances of the injury have not been fully established, and police work is being carried out to find the perpetrator of the crime against the Ambulance, who escaped in a truck. Sadly, people lost their lives; the community and authorities are concerned about the families of the victims caused by this tragedy in the West Midnapore district.
