Indore: Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for decentralizing new departments to him, where he went to Indore, which is the financial capital of Madhya Pradesh. Minister Scindia elaborated on the importance of these new responsibilities, stating that they were crucial as they touched every Indian citizen’s life. He also took time to discuss the aspects of the telecommunications and postal departments in the overall development of the nation.
Scindia mentioned that about 70-80% of the population in India has connected their cell phones, and currently, India has about 1. 2 billion mobile phones. The strategy is mainly focused on improving the 4G network and its coverage across the country. He stressed that India has its indigenous 4G technology, and its mission is to realize the 4G coverage at the 100% level. Under the BharatNet project, the intention is to connect the optical fibre cable to the ultimate consumer, regardless of whether he resides in the urban or rural sectors, through BSNL.
Emphasizing the contribution of this postal department, Minister Scindia talked about their previous work experience in this sphere. He compared the formation of the India Post Payments Bank to enhance payment management. He also appreciated the tree plantation campaign launched by the Prime Minster on June 5. He encouraged the people of India on this front by vouching that this year, the Bharatiya Janata Party and the citizens of India would establish a new record in the conservation or protection of the environment. He was to the point when it came to the environment and urged people to be responsible in a bid to let future generations live in a better world.
During his trip to the IT department, Scindia went all out to explain his vision for telecommunication, particularly 4G services and coverage across the nation. But to affirm this as a reality on records, he insisted there was the need to attain 4G penetration to its ultimate potential in India. With 1.2 billion mobile phones already in use, the emphasis is now on the availability of fast Internet connection to all these phones.
