Banks will remain shut in some regions nationwide today, Monday, July 8. This holiday may not be celebrated throughout the country, but it is celebrated in Manipur because of a festival known as the Kang Festival. Next week, several banks will be off for four days in several regions. Some states will observe Monday and Tuesday holidays, July 8 and 9, with all banks to remain closed. Also, banks will close all over the country tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday, respectively. This implies that next week, one will only transact business for three days from the seven days in that week since the banks will be closed for four days. There will be no banking operation in Sikkim on Tuesday, July 9, because of the Drukpa Tshechi festival, usually observed in the Buddhist society. Subsequently, banks all over India will remain shut on Saturday, July 13 and Sunday, July 14, as it falls under weekend offs.
All the banks in Uttarakhand are closed on Tuesday, July 16, on the occasion of the ‘Harela’ festival, which is quite famous in the areas of Uttrakhand and marks the beginning of the rainy season. The coming day, July 17, will see banks being shut down in different states because of Muharram and Singh Diwas. Muharram marks the Islamic martyrology of Imam Hussain, while Singh Diwas is carried out in some regions.
Banks are closed on July 21 and 27 and on the following Saturday, the 28th as well.
These are frequent closures for the simple reason that every time, consumers and users of bank products and services have to adjust their operations and schedules in line with these closures. One may decide to do any bulk banking business before these dates so that you do not incur the inconveniences of these dates.
