While addressing an election rally in Khanna recently, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh bitterly targeted AAP Chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Referring to Kejriwal’s involvement in a series of legal troubles, Singh, while addressing an election rally in support of BJP’s Fatehgarh Sahib candidate Gejja Ram Valmiki, said that the AAP leader was arrested in the money laundering case in relation to an alleged excise policy scam.

Singh challenged the perception of leaders, saying that if a leader is accused of a certain issue, he ought to resign until he is cleared of the accusations. He derisively referred to Kejriwal’s posturing that from jail, his duties shall continue to be performed after being released by the Supreme Court for some time until the election bailed out.

Further, Singh questioned Kejriwal’s political career period by highlighting his move from the AAP and especially by referring to the anti-corruption crusade led by Anna Hazare, which Kejriwal also supported but is now acting very differently. He further accused Kejriwal of planning to use the accomplishment of the movement to his individual political benefit against the advice of Hazare.

Additionally, Singh criticised Kejriwal’s unfulfilled promises, including moving out of government houses as soon as he was sworn into office and he accused the latter of having to redesign the house of the chief minister with the taxpayer’s money.

Rajnath Singh also took a dig at Kejriwal on issues linked to governance, particularly the alleged ‘assault’ on AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal at the CM’s residence in Delhi. He also cast doubt on the leadership morality of Kejriwal on this issue, especially since he has waited a long time without saying anything about it.

Even extending his criticism to the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, he suggested that, like Kejriwal, Mann cannot be a leader of the ‘group’; thus, his leadership capabilities may also be in doubt.
