It is no secret that Virat Kohli is in absolute hysteria, and there is nothing wrong with that. The rollercoaster ride that Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) went through in IPL 2024 has ended in a triumphant rise to the playoffs. This miracle has brought hope and inspiration to cricket lovers around the globe. Midway through the season, RCB was sitting at the bottom of the points table, with the worst possible record of losing 6 out of 7 matches. However, despite these adverse circumstances, they managed a spectacular come-back. Kohli, who has become the icon of this recovery, has scored 708 runs, ensuring his leading position in the run list.

The elated win against the Chennai Super Kings by 27 runs helped RCB not only make their way to the playoffs but also ensured the much-acclaimed return of one of their most memorable game changers – Chris Gayle, or rather the ‘Universe Boss’ as he is famously known and loved. Gayle, who saw his former team’s courage and bravery in facing adversity, also visited the stands for a brief moment before he joined the wild celebrations in the RCB dressing room. During all the fun, Kohli tried to joke that he hits the most sixes in the team, to which Gayle responded with a smile.

Assertively, Kohli said, ‘maximum sixes this season yeah?’ to which Gayle asked, ‘How many?’ and promptly Kohli mentioned ‘37.’ Both of them laughed, and both of them hugged each other, which shows that cricketers are human too. Nevertheless, their exchange of remarks had a twist. SRH’s Abhishek Sharma broke Kohli’s record by hitting 41 sixes. Kohli, however, being the aggressive and confident captain he is, handled Gayle’s speech with a pinch of humor as he asked Gayle if he could come back to RCB as an Impact Substitute for IPL 2025.

Kohli said: “Kaka come back next year – Impact Player is on now you don’t have to field anymore. It is made for you.”This brings out the bonhomie of several cricketing relationships.
