Raipur: The Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vishnudeo Sai, replied sharply to Priyanka Gandhi’s statement that the state’s rice distribution system under the Public Distribution System (PDS) is not perfect. In an interview, Priyanka Gandhi pointed out that during the Congress government’s tenure in Chhattisgarh, people would get 35 kilograms of ration. Now, families can only get 5 kilograms of ration. CM Vishnudeo Sai used the medium of his social media account to dispel these allegations on X (formerly Twitter).

The Congress was accused of having long-standing peasants in deceit as Vishnudeo Sai said, “Congress has had this disease of being untruthful for the past 70 years, and so it will soon go.” He went a step further by demanding that Priyanka Gandhi address the alleged 5000-crore rice scam in Chhattisgarh that took place under the Congress rule, stating that with every passing day, they (Congress leaders in the state) are exploiting her lack of knowledge to trick their high command.

Sai countered the above by mentioning that before the visit of Rahul Gandhi, the Congress party leaders had fed Rahul Gandhi stories that Congress had projects for food parks across all the districts of Chhattisgarh, which was far from reality. This led not just to people shifting their vote from the Congress party but also to the complete change of the political set-up in the entire state. Sai warned Gandhi to refrain from making careless statements that lacked necessary research, suggesting that if she did, her advisor or manager could help her to eliminate the frequent blunders.

He was contrasting current government efforts, which saw rations for the vulnerable ones to be jeopardized, and prior congress’ government that never took rations meant for the poor at the time. On the contrary, it would provide for a better distribution of the rations more consistently.
