Mumbai: Nashik’s political pandemonium remains high as the Maharashtra Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, takes over control of Shiv Sena’s internal agitation and dispute with its alliance partner, the NCP. In addition to unexpected factors impacting Hemant Godse’s election, Shinde’s visit on Wednesday day was meant to bring back peace. Through various discussions with the leaders on a community level, Shinde tried to accomplish the differences in radicalization and re-energize his campaign. Godse, who had earlier approached prominent NCP minister Chhagan Bhujbal, was assured he would be assisted as consideration for the latter’s dominance over OBC voters as well as Godse’s Maratha caste background.
There has been a hot political scene regarding the Nashik Lok Sabha constituency. BJP remains opposed to Godse’s candidature, and that seat is proposed for the NCP under Ajit Pawar’s leadership. Bhujbal, aspiring for the seat, also gains an appreciation for BJP’s weighing of the ‘winnability’ of some of the aspirants. Surprisingly, Shinde’s discussions over the question helped Shiv Sena to get the seat with Rajabhau Waje as the candidate.
The internal conflict of Shiv Sena led by Ajay Boraste’s dissatisfaction and Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi’s (BJP, NCP) disassociation from Godse’s campaign made Eknath Shinde take control of the situation. Having limited time for the campaign, Godse appealed to Shinde, and the latter came to Nashik in need of help.
During his visit, Shinde successfully persuaded Shiv Sena rebel Vijay Karanjkar to withdraw his candidacy, acknowledging his potential to split votes. Additionally, assurances were provided to Boraste to alleviate his concerns. Shinde commended Karanjkar and Boraste, emphasizing their roles in securing Godse’s victory.
Eknath Shinde’s efforts underscore his commitment to fostering unity within Mahayuti, navigating complex political dynamics to bolster Hemant Godse’s electoral prospects in Nashik.
