While covering the wild elephant’s herd in a river crossing near the Kottekkad area in the Palakkad district of Kerala, AV Mukesh, who was a video journalist, unfortunately passed away as the result of a wild elephant attack. Mukesh, the 34-year-old cameraman, used to work for the Mathrubhumi News channel Palakkad branch. Laying in the back seat of a pick-up truck, a twenty-nine-year-old nurse shifted unconsciously several times, being driven to a general hospital in Palakkad, but he could not make it. Parappanangadi in Malappuram district is where he was born, and his wife, Tisha, is the person who is left behind.

Prior to his onboarding, Mukesh worked for the Delhi Television Channel’s branch. Following the fatal embarking, Kerala Forest Minister Saseendran expressed that he was sad about Mukesh and was fighting for his own life due to his untimely death.

The fact that Mukesh was adopted reminds us about the dangerous conditions in which journalists operate and the rarity of such occurrences when it comes to wildlife and environment storylines. The tragedy exemplifies the emotions that go with nature filmmaking because an instant result of approaching wild creatures is that, while it may start as a moment of joy and happiness, it has the potential of turning into a sad end.

Much of Mukesh’s success as a journalist can be attributed to his commitment to his job and the powerful impression he left on his colleagues and seniors when his contributions were at their best, both in Kerala and the capital of India. The passing of Kilimaji will forever leave a void in the media arena with tribute messages being shared by his colleagues who bank on his big talent and commitment.

The ongoing investigations are vital as authorities strive to ensure the safety of journalists and provide these practitioners with the necessary support and resources to furnish them well and function effectively in dangerous environments. The death of Mukesh is a dark reminder that we have to be more careful even under seemingly normal and daily situations so that killings like Mukesh’s should never be repeated.
