The captain of Rajasthan Royals, Sanju Samson, was enforced a 30% fine of his match fees, and he disputed with umpires during their match against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The BCCI’s official statement confirmed the penalty given for the incident, specifying the event (Match 56) of the Tata Indian Premier League in the year 2024. The punishment was administered under Article 2.8, breaking of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, designating it as a Level 1 offense. Samson accepted the violation and agreed to the penalty just like any other infringement that the Match Referee imposed on the IPL’s disciplinary procedure.
RR’s head coach, Sangakkara, highlighted the difficulties in judging the situation. He stressed the fact that the replays will be the only basis for all the decisions involved and the angle of plays, which will mostly be determining border catches.
