After the recent flooding in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) triggered by copious rain showers seen in April, we see Dubai encounter the situation again with heavy rains, and the government issues an ‘orange’ alert on Friday, closing out the week.
The prediction is for continued rainfall with light to moderate amounts in, respectively, the south and east of the town. Ideally, the heaviest showers may be set in some areas mentioned above temporarily or for some time. The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) predict that temperature rises will be continual beginning in Saturday.
Incessant downpours and heavy rainfall have hampered the airport’s flight delivery, causing cancellations and delays of flights in and out of Dubai. Major airlines like Emirates, Kylyldubayt Aviablo and Air Arabia have released advisories telling passengers to expect delays and to plan ahead. They also advise additional travel time to the airport, especially for those who depart from Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah.
In turn, this turbulent weather situation has also obstructed flight operations not just for other carriers but also for IndiGo, Vistara, and SpiceJet, as they weren’t the only affected airports during this period of time and their departures, arrivals, and overall flight schedules in Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Abu Dhabi were affected as well.
The government of UAE has been pushed by the terrible weather conditions to take immediate action to prevent the classes from going online. They have thus ordered the closure of all education centres in the country until Friday. Moreover, both work at home and remote work of public and private sector officers are encouraged to lower the risks of their exposure.
To protect residents, authorities have swept beaches away and closed them up, appealing to everyone to stay away from the contaminated ones.
In addition, the UAE crisis authority has seconded the nation’s capability to tackle these upcoming weather anomalies, declaring that all crucial agencies are well-equipped to carry out predetermined actions.
