After receiving a complaint from a customer, samples were taken from a McDonald’s location in Noida Sector 18 and a Theobroma bakery in Sector 104 by members of the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department (FDA). The consumer became ill after eating food from these outlets.

FDA collected food samples from McDonald’s, Theobroma bakery in Noida following consumer ‘illness’ complaints. Assistant Commissioner (Food) Archana Dheeran of the FDA in Gautam Buddh Nagar stated that following the complaint, prompt action was taken and samples of McDonald’s mayonnaise, cheese, and palm oil were obtained.

According to the Journal of Medical Sciences, 2 million people die of consuming contaminated food and water annually in India. In another incident, a customer became unwell after eating stale cake, prompting a complaint to be filed against Theobroma bakery in Noida Sector 104. A pineapple cake sample was gathered by the FDA team and submitted to the lab.

According to FDA Assistant Commissioner for Food Archana Dheeran, reports should be received within a month. If the sample is found to be unsatisfactory in the report, further steps will be undertaken and a case will be opened.
