New Delhi: A female has been arrested by Delhi police for impersonating almost 150 Indian and Nepalese people. She has been accused of duping them over 4 crores by promising them overseas job opportunities. The authorities have disclosed this topic on Saturday. The Economic Offices Wing (EOW) kicked off an inquiry process in the closing month, having received numerous complaints.
The Commissioner of Police Deputy of Police in India, that’s Vikram K Porwal, declared: “Several complaints we have already received including the residents of New Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, likewise Punjab and Tamil nadu. It is followed by the Parallel 29 complaints of Nepal Nationals accusing fraud by a woman”.
The primary culprit, identified as the mastermind behind the syndicate, was apprehended on Thursday at her residence in Zirakpur, Punjab, police disclosed.
“During the investigation, we learned that the accused would establish offices in upscale localities to gain the victims’ confidence. She had previously operated offices in areas like Crown Heights in Rohini and Sector 17 in Chandigarh,” remarked the DCP. The accused purportedly demanded an initial fee of ₹6,000 from victims, subsequently escalating it to as high as ₹5 lakh.
Police investigations revealed that the accused and her associates operated a website and advertised their deceitful enterprise on social media platforms.
“After accumulating substantial sums in one location, they abruptly shut down operations and fled, only to reappear in another city under a different firm name, website, and contact details. Additionally, new telecallers were recruited,” the DCP elaborated.
The authorities cited the raid and pointed out that two laptops, over ten mobile phones, three passports, and other incriminating papers were seized.
Rajasthani accent, eloquence and manifold experiences established; the suspect had a degree in Arts with a focus on literature and then worked as a telecaller at a company, according to police sources. “The accused is in our custody. She is undergoing interrogation and we hope to unravel other accomplices by careful examination of her,” the DCP confirmed.
