West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee reeled from a minor injury on Saturday after she slipped boarding a helicopter in Durgapur. Having been helped by people from the security sector, she headed straight for Asansol, the place where an election rally was scheduled.
This incident marks the second time in six weeks that Banerjee has been injured. On March 14, the Trinamool Congress leader fell at her Kalighat residence, sustaining a severe forehead and nose injury, requiring hospitalization.
According to Banerjee’s brother, Kartik Banerjee, she suffered a cerebral concussion and a deep cut on her forehead and nose, resulting in profuse bleeding.
Initially, having hypothesis regarding Banerjee’s accident, Manimoy Bandyopadhyay sent her down the slope due to a push from behind, leading to confusion and making to speculate. Later, Bandyopadhyay pointed out that the push may have been a feeling Banerjee had. He clarified the earlier statement.
“This is a sensation of propulsion from behind (the fall of CM Banerjee). We did what we were instructed to do. This was taken out of context, and so was my last evening statement,” Bandyopadhyay clarified.
