The news of Nisaranga Grand offering free dosas for voters in Bengaluru as an electoral gesture led to the cheers of the crowds on Friday when they came for dosa for breakfast. The queue stretched out while people enthusiastically queued up to avail themselves of the free dosa after voting, apart from getting ladoos and fruit juices to top it up.
Custom elections were offered by Nisaranga Grand during the 2018 Assembly elections, and it is an ongoing initiative to score the numbers of voters to the polls.
Of course, Nisaranga Grand was just a humble beginning; multifarious other places throughout the city of Bengaluru joined the party, which offered either free meals or discounts to the voters. For example, Mr. Philly’s burger shop offers a 30% discount to the first hundred of them who voluntarily sport their inked fingers on voting day. As to Wonderla voting clients’ 15% ticket discounts, Deck of Brews also provides free handouts in brews the day after voting.
The High Court of Karnataka passed an order approving the plan of offering free or discounted meals to voters by the Hotels’ Association for Bangalore’s Metropolitan, so the range of the voter satisfaction registration was improved.
Furthermore, dismissal interracial and airlines have also come up with deals for voters in the nonmedical aspect of voting. Air India Express provides a 19% discount on tickets for voters who have time never voted and are aged 18 to 22. Furthermore, smart mobility service provider BlueSmart has an app designed to attract voters by providing 30 km radius rides at a discount to voters in Bengaluru and Delhi NCR.
This way of cooperation not only rewards the citizens’ involvement but also helps promote a culture of effective engagement in the governing ruling process. Influencing the interests of democracy to some extent, companies and associations catalyze participation in voting, which, in the end, increases the importance of citizenship rights.
