Bijapur: The police have once again been drawn into the heat of the election in Bastar after their brief period of absence. In the Bhairamgarh region of Keshkutul, police forces and Naxalites are still fighting on the ground, according to some news agencies. One Naxal has been confirmed dead, and there have been recovered weapons up to now.

Responding to the news, SP Jitendra Yadav confirmed that the confrontation was still ongoing. He said details would be given later when the situation is under control after their return.

It is the Naxalism resurgence is a sure sign of how difficult it is for police to tackle what is happening in the area. As much as the roles of the Naxalites in armed demonstrations against the forces of the government are curbed, they still keep up with the fight. The dispute between Keshkutul comprised the basic sense of the people of Bastar’s long-standing struggle for power and dominance over the harsh and inaccessible territory.

Bastar, known for its dense forests and difficult terrain, has long been a hotbed of Naxal activity. The Naxalites, who claim to fight for the rights of the oppressed, often find support among the local tribal populations disillusioned with the government’s policies and neglect.

The responsibility falls on the police who are to restore peace and state authority after the territory regains its sovereignty through various means. On the other side, the fight and constant struggle of the Naxalite groups against the central government is well-organized by such groups that have strong roots within the local settlements.

The events in Kshekutula provide a sounding board for the intricate social and political scenarios active in Bastar. The region, which was traditionally a trouble spot for tribal unrest, as well as it went through economic neglecting and political marginalization, now offers ideal conditions for Naxalite insurgency.

While the situation could progress even further, the authorities will promptly respond with more robust measures to eradicate the Naxalite menace in Bastar. While military operations become a prerequisite for any peace effort in the region, a feeling of long-lasting peace and stability can never result from military actions only.
