Iraqi military base bombings followed by the death of three soldiers associated with the Iran-backed, proximate armed militia, due to which tensions in the Middle East remain. While the Israeli and US authorities vehemently refuted any involvement in the occasion, such accusations were raised. On the one hand, Salva Kiir promised to form a unity government which would include major opposition groups as well as address key grievances. On the other hand, Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Jafarian gave a stern statement that Iran would retaliate with the utmost force if Israel acts against Iranian interests.

The incident turned worse as a number of explosions were reported in the vicinity of Isfahan’s airports, which led Iran to respond militarily and activate its air defense systems. This would undoubtedly strengthen demonstrations against the government and increase the power of opposition parties.

This recent flare-up between Iran and Israel occurs against the backdrop of ongoing regional tensions sparked by the conflict between Israel and the Hamas militant group in the Gaza Strip. Over the weekend, an airstrike targeted a base utilized by the Popular Mobilization Forces, a Shiite paramilitary group backed by Iran and based in Iraq. The US military quickly distanced itself from the strike, denying any involvement.

These events occurred on the edge of the day following securing the authorization as Iran has no immediate intensification against Israel. The Israelis claimed the attack was striking a warning message with no real intention of inflicting severe damage.

Despite mounting tensions, Iran’s foreign minister emphasized the need for an investigation into the Isfahan incident, cautioning against premature conclusions regarding Israel’s involvement. Hossein Amirabdollahian reiterated Iran’s readiness to respond decisively if its interests were compromised by Israeli actions.

As Iranian Foreign Minister revealed in his interview with a news agency, the drones are primitive and more hypothetical than to toy with instead of sophisticated military equipment. Countries are looking forward for the tensions in Middle East to calm down.
