After the video of the Shah Rukh Khan lookalike campaigning for Praniti Shinde, Congress candidate of Solapur, was broadcast, the BJP equated it to a scandal. BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala tweeted these feelings, as he tagged the Election Commission of India and Shah Rukh Khan, said the tactic of Congress was cheap and dishonest. Poonawala attacked the party’s fake surveys, their fantasized antinational campaign materials, and also the artificial celebrity Deep Fakes that their campaign probably used.
While some reports suggested that the lookalike was Ibrahim Qadri, known for his striking resemblance to Shah Rukh Khan, there was no official confirmation regarding the identity of the individual. Ibrahim Qadri gained fame for his uncanny resemblance to SRK, particularly during the release of the movie “Raees,” garnering a sizable following on social media. Qadri frequently attends events where he emulates SRK’s dialogues, signature poses, and dance moves.
The viral video of SRK as his double made his way into the public, with his suspect ponytail being waved from behind the vehicle, which was decorated with the party banner containing the images of Rahul Gandhi and Praniti Shinde with other leaders.
