PM Modi, by saying that RJD represented accursed jungle raj in the state and not the government, raised his critics of RJD and supporters to the sky during the last Lok Sabha election campaign in the Gaya district of Bihar. Attacking Lalu Prasad Yadav-led party, Modi claimed it had created an atmosphere of corruption and the seed of chaos during its rule in Bihar. For him, years of governance by RJD never showed any outstanding achievement they have made nor allowed corruption to grow at its completeness.
Addressing the opposing Indian National Devices Inclusive Associations (INDIA) bloc, he has claimed their insufficiency of vision and heavy reliance on Nitish Kumar’s regime achievements as well as the central powers. In his criticism, he pointed out that the attempts of Congress and RJD to turn social justice rhetoric into a political benefit were inherently unjustified.
Highlighting his party’s promises for a developed India and Bihar, PM Modi emphasized initiatives such as the construction of three crore houses for the poor, continued support through PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, and free healthcare for elderly citizens. He presented these as guarantees for the next five years under his leadership.
Accordingly, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, who was answering this question, contradicted to Modi’s claims and also raised questions about Modi’s participation in Bihar’s development over the last ten years. Yadav alluded to some major victories of the RJD regime, such as information and communication technologies, tourism and sports development, and foreign investment agreements. Modi criticized Bihar’s leader Yadav, for time spent on derogatory statements instead of addressing states’ needs, claiming unemployment, inflation, poverty, and hollow promises as the vicious to his time.
The upcoming general election in Bihar has intensified the rivalry between the NDA alliance and the RJD, with the political landscape undergoing significant shifts following Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s departure from the Mahagathbandhan alliance to form a new government with the BJP. Kumar cited dissatisfaction with the alliance’s functioning and alleged credit-stealing as reasons for his departure.
