The Congress Party has berated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his recent condemnation of their Lok Sabha election manifesto as being “Muslim League Imprint” alike in nature. Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate pointed out that, once it became a cause for concern that many people were sharing their feedback on this manifesto, Modi made that despicable remark to confuse the people and divert them from the Justice document.
Speaking at a press conference in Delhi, Shrinate accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of reverting to divisive tactics amidst declining poll prospects. She asserted that Modi’s remarks indicate a desperate attempt to deflect attention from the substantive discussions on the Congress manifesto.
Modi’s allegations, made during election rallies over the weekend, drew a sharp response from Shrinate. She countered by alleging historical affiliations between the BJP and the Muslim League, claiming that such ties date back to the ideological roots of the BJP. Shrinate cited instances where leaders like Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, alongside the Muslim League, governed regions like Bengal, Sindh, and the North-West Frontier Province. She also accused the BJP of historically favoring divisive forces and urged Modi to uphold the dignity of his position.
Shrinate further asserted that Modi’s administration has failed to deliver substantial achievements over its ten-year tenure. She claimed that the BJP’s internal surveys indicate a dwindling electoral tally, prompting Modi and his party to resort to familiar tactics of Hindu-Muslim polarization.
The Congress spokesperson emphasized the inclusive nature of their manifesto, highlighting its focus on youth, women, farmers, workers, oppressed communities, soldiers, and residents of regions like Manipur, Kashmir, and Ladakh. She underscored the importance of government institutions in nation-building and criticized Modi for allegedly neglecting their foundational role.
