In yesterday’s IPL match between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals and Captain Rishabh Pant, was given another fine by the BCCI for maintaining Slow Over Rate. This has been for the second consecutive time, Delhi Capitals has been fined in this tournament, as they were previously fined against Chennai Super Kings.

Their captain, Rishabh Pant, was fined 24 lakhs by the BCCI, and the official notice released by them said, “Rishabh Pant, the Delhi Capitals Captain, has been fined after his team maintained slow over rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium.”

Along with Rishabh Pant, the entire Delhi Capitals team and the Impact Player Abhishek Porel, have been fined 6 lakhs or 25% of their match fees, whichever is less, which is comparatively lower as compared to Pant’s fine. Kolkata Knight Riders showcased it’s dominant performance under the guidance of Gautam Gambhir in the previous match.

Batting first, Kolkata Knight Riders received a strong start with their top order batsmen like Sunil Narine, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, and Phil Salt. Sunil Narine scored his highest score in the IPL, smashing 85 runs, while the debutant Angkrish Raghuvanshi scored 54 runs at a strike rate of 200. Andre Russell and Rinku Singh boosted the team’s score towards the end and KKR finished at 272/7, being close to the highest runs in the tournament.

Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, were not able to perform well in the match, with both bat and ball. Only Rishabh Pant and Tristan Stubbs were able to score half-centuries for the team while Delhi Capitals got all out at the score of 166. This was the third loss in this season for Delhi Capitals due to which they stand at the 9th spot with less net run rate.
