Wheat crop standing in 20 acres was burnt to ashes in Shukkarwada Kalan, Makhannagar in Kennarmadapuram district of Madhya Pradesh. The fire spread so fast that within no time it engulfed the entire farm. Seeing the flames and smoke rising, a large number of villagers reached the fields and tried to control the fire by dousing the fire with trees and bushes and pouring water.
During this time, the fire brigade was also informed, but the fire brigade could not reach the spot on time. After which the fire was somehow controlled by the villagers with hard work, although by then a lot of damage had already been done. The reason behind how this fire started has not been revealed yet. Here, the farmer has suffered huge loss due to the fire incident.

Several factors contribute to these frequent fires. Some traditional practices involve controlled burns for purposes like clearing land or encouraging new grass growth. However, accidental ignitions and deliberate acts like arson also play a role.
The state forest department is taking steps to mitigate this problem. Initiatives include public awareness campaigns, fire prevention measures, and improved monitoring through satellite technology. However, challenges like resource limitations and vast inaccessible areas make complete control difficult.
