In Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh, farmers staged a protest outside the Javad Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) after traders halted the auction of crops. Frustrated by the disruption, farmers caused a traffic jam on the main road outside the Javad APMC. The incident led to long queues of vehicles as commuters faced inconvenience. Upon receiving information, the administrative authorities promptly intervened at the scene and initiated discussions with the traders to resume the auction. Following negotiations, the farmers decided to lift the road blockade.
The disturbance arose as traders ceased the auction process, citing various issues in the Javad APMC. According to traders, the market lacks proper water facilities, electricity arrangements, malfunctioning CCTV cameras, and inadequate security, leading to regular theft of goods belonging to both farmers and traders. Frustrated by these persistent problems, traders decided to suspend the auction proceedings.
Subsequently, with the auction halted, farmers took to the main road outside the agricultural market and caused a traffic jam. Deputy Tehsildar Saloni Patwa, accompanied by police forces, arrived at the spot to engage in discussions with the traders. The authorities aimed to address the concerns raised by both farmers and traders and to rectify the prevailing irregularities in the APMC.
After successful negotiations, which included assurances from the authorities regarding improvements in market facilities and security measures, the auction process resumed, bringing relief to both farmers and traders. The incident highlights the challenges faced by those involved in agricultural trade and the need for comprehensive infrastructure and security arrangements in marketplaces to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
