On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the ‘Amrit Bharat Station Yojana,’ initiating a transformative overhaul of 554 railway stations and the foundation laying ceremony of 1,500 road overbridges/underpasses. With an estimated cost of ₹41,000 crore, the comprehensive project aims to rejuvenate the railway infrastructure across the nation. Of the total, 74 railway stations and 267 road overbridges/underpasses have been revamped in Uttar Pradesh, marking a significant development for the state.

Addressing the program, PM Modi emphasized the need for accelerated railway development, stating that improved rail connectivity not only benefits passengers but also plays a crucial role in supporting agriculture and industrial progress. He highlighted the role of Indian Railways in boosting the products of small farmers and artisans, stating that the rail network serves as a vital carrier for their goods. To further support such endeavors, special shops have been established under the ‘One Station One Product Plan’ at various railway stations.

PM Modi expressed his satisfaction in witnessing the realization of the facilities that people had previously only imagined. He acknowledged the tremendous transformation India has undergone in the last decade, particularly in the railway sector, citing visible changes. He lauded the ‘Amrit Bharat Station Yojana’ as a significant step toward progress.

The virtual program also saw Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath connecting from his official residence. CM Yogi expressed gratitude to PM Modi for his guidance, calling the ‘Progressive Rail of New India’ under his leadership a rapid success. In addition to the rejuvenation of the Gomti Nagar Railway Station, more than 2,000 railway infrastructure projects were inaugurated or laid the foundation for across the nation on the same day.

Several districts in Uttar Pradesh, including Meerut, Mau, Manikpur, Shrikant Nagar, Unchahar, Manik Nagar, Chunar, Gadhmukteshwar, Gonda, Jaunpur City, Lalitpur, Malhar, Chitrakoot Dham Karwi, Khurja, Lakhimpur, Kanpur Anwarganj, Bhatni, Haidargarh, Mailani, Akbarpur Junction, Mirzapur, Govindpuri, Bharatkund, Salemapur, Mahoba, Pilibhit, Kannauj, Swami Narayan Chhapia, Sonbhadra, Lambhua, Anand Nagar, Babatpur, Lakhanpur, Agra City, Tulsi Pur, Shikohabad, Nihalgarh, Aonla, Anand Nagar, Barheli, Lakhanpur, Kanpur City, Pukhrayan, Khurja Road, Banda, Badhni, Balrampur, Firozabad, Urai, Lal Ganz, Khalilabad, Ramghat Halt, Gursahaiganj, Ghazipur City, Phaphamau, Mujaffarnagar, Belthara Road, Bulandshahr, Lohata, Raja Ki Mandi, Chilbila, Kundha Harnamganj, Badshahpur, Takiya, and Mainpuri Junction were included in the initiative.
