Bilaspur: Allegations of corruption and the requirement of payments for services at the Bilaspur Tehsil office have led to a petition filed in the High Court. The petitioner, Rohani Dube of Bilaspur, had applied for divorce-related proceedings at the Tehsil office. However, despite the passage of considerable time, the case received neither a hearing nor resolution. Disturbingly, information surfaced that the case was being obstructed merely due to the reluctance to pay certain fees.

Frustrated by the lack of progress and transparency, Rohani Dube’s family took action. They sought information on the number of divorce cases filed and pending cases within the jurisdiction. The family’s efforts to seek answers from the authorities, however, proved futile. Feeling neglected by the authorities, they decided to escalate the matter to the High Court.

In response to the petition, the High Court, led by Chief Justice Ramesh Kumar Sinha’s division bench, took a stern stance, directing the Bilaspur Collector to provide a written response along with an affidavit. The court also issued a summons for the presence of the Bilaspur SDM during the hearing scheduled for February 27.

It’s noteworthy that Rohani Dube’s application for divorce proceedings in the Bilaspur Tehsil had remained unattended for an extended period. Upon discovering that the delay was linked to financial considerations, the family decided to challenge this practice. Allegations of corruption and an environment of malpractice within the Tehsil office were raised, prompting the family to seek justice through the legal system.

As the High Court intervenes, the response from the Bilaspur Collector and SDM, as well as the subsequent hearing on February 27, will shed light on the alleged corruption and financial improprieties within the Tehsil office, emphasizing the significance of transparent and fair processes in administrative offices.
