Rakul Preet Singh and Jackky Bhagnani tied the knot on February 21 in Goa. The couple had two ceremonies imbibing both their cultures. One was an Anand Karaj ceremony and the other was a Punjabi wedding. The couple ditched their international destination wedding for a desi shaadi at a luxurious resort in Goa. Earlier, they were supposed to tie the knot in UAE but later shifted the venue to India going by PM Narendra Modi’s advice to influential people to have their functions in India.
Meanwhile, now as they are married, PM Modi has written a letter to the couple, thus congratulating them for their wedding. He also expressed gratitude for inviting him. The letter was addressed to Jackky’s parents, Puja and Vashu Bhagnani and it read, “As Jackky and Rakul commence the journey of trust and togetherness for a lifetime, heartiest congratulations and greetings to them on the auspicious occasion of their wedding. The years to come are an opportunity for the couple to discover each other, while also embarking together on the path of self-discovery.
Pre-wedding festivities included a sangeet at which Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra performed. Other guests included Varun Dhawan and wife Natasha Dalal – the couple, who are expecting their first child, left Goa before the wedding. Plenty of other celebrities made up for their absence, among them Shahid Kapoor and wife Mira, rumoured couple Ananya Panday and Aditya Roy Kapur, and Ayushmann Khurrana with wife Tahira Kashyap. Sisters Bhumi and Samiksha Pednekar, and Esha Deol also attended the wedding festivities.
