Bollywood film ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya,’ featuring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, hit theaters on February 9, garnering ₹6.50 crore on its opening day. The movie, made with a budget of ₹75 crore, showcases varied occupancy rates across major Indian cities.

Chennai recorded the highest occupancy at 48.5%, particularly during the evening and night screenings. Mumbai and Bengaluru also witnessed increased attendance during later shows, while cities like Bhopal and Surat reported comparatively lower interest in the film. The nationwide release comprised 7,372 screenings, with evening slots being particularly popular among audiences.

Shahid Kapoor’s previous release, ‘Bloody Daddy,’ was available for free on JioCinema, and his last theatrical venture was ‘Jersey’ in 2022, which faced challenges at the box office, earning ₹26 crore globally. However, ‘Kabir Singh,’ directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, marked one of Shahid’s most successful movies, grossing ₹377 crore.

In contrast, Kriti Sanon experienced three consecutive box office disappointments with ‘Ganapath,’ ‘Adipurush,’ and ‘Shehzada.’ Before that, ‘Bhediya’ achieved moderate success, generating ₹96 crore worldwide against a ₹60 crore budget.

Kriti’s solo-heroine projects have had mixed commercial success. ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi,’ produced with ₹20 crore, earned ₹58.62 crore, while ‘Luka Chuppi,’ also made with ₹20 crore, achieved a more substantial revenue of ₹128 crore.

‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’ marks a significant release for both Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. While Shahid navigates the post-‘Jersey’ phase, Kriti aims to break her recent box office jinx and revive her solo-heroine career. The movie’s performance in the coming days will determine its overall success and its impact on the actors’ respective trajectories in the industry.
