Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone’s film faces a downturn on its seventh day since the January 25 release, with no recovery evident at the domestic box office. Industry estimates suggest the movie earned approximately ₹6.35 crore nett in India on Wednesday, marking a ₹1.15 crore decrease from Tuesday’s ₹7.5 crore nett collection. The total earnings for “Fighter” now reach ₹140.35 crore nett in India during its opening week, accompanied by an overall occupancy of 11.89 percent on Wednesday.
Despite a promising opening, with ₹118.5 crore in the debut weekend, the film took an unexpected hit on Monday, recording a meager ₹8 crore. Subsequently, it continued to decline each day. However, the international box office appears more favorable for the film.
The disappointing box office performance of “Fighter” raises concerns among film trade insiders, prompting a film analyst to express on social media, “FIGHTER’ shocks India, rocks overseas… The underperformance of Fighter has sent shock waves within the industry… Yet, the dwindling numbers in #India are a complete shocker.”
He further remarked on the paradox, stating, “To face a setback at the very start of the year is indeed worrisome. Having said that, while the numbers are witnessing a downward trend in #India, the biz in key international markets continues to be strong, *even on weekdays… Markets like #USA, Canada, Australia, and NZ (New Zealand) are still holding fort, even after an excellent weekend. How does one explain this paradox?”
