Takhatpur: After taking charge as SDM, Joint Collector Vaibhav Kumar enters action mode. The SDM has issued notices to six Nodal Officers, demanding reasons for their absence. The notice explicitly states that if satisfactory responses are not received, appropriate action will be taken.

According to available information, a review meeting of Nodal Officers responsible for paddy procurement at the district panchayat auditorium was conducted. Surprisingly, six Nodal Officers failed to attend the meeting. The review meeting focused on evaluating the procurement of paddy at the support price in the remaining days of the 2023 Kharif marketing season.

Following this stern action, the SDM emphasized that leniency would not be tolerated for officers or employees displaying negligence in paddy procurement activities. The SDM stated that arbitrary decisions by officials in the procurement process would not be tolerated.

In the aftermath of this development, the SDM made it clear that there will be consequences for officers and employees who show disregard for their responsibilities in the procurement process. The Nodal Officers have been given a strict deadline of two days to present themselves at the office and provide an explanation for their absence during the crucial review meeting.

The district has witnessed a surplus of paddy in the Kharif marketing season of 2023, and the review meeting aimed to address any shortcomings in the procurement process. The SDM’s proactive stance underscores the importance of accountability and efficient functioning in government offices, especially in critical sectors such as agricultural procurement.

As the SDM sets a precedent for accountability, it remains to be seen how the Nodal Officers respond and whether this action prompts a more conscientious approach to their responsibilities in the future. The district administration’s commitment to ensuring the smooth procurement of agricultural produce is evident through such assertive measures.
