Chandigarh: The 37th International Surajkund Crafts Fair promises grandeur in comparison to previous years. The administration and government are meticulously preparing for the event, with the official inauguration by President Draupadi Murmu scheduled for February 2. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhad will participate on February 3. This year’s fair will witness the participation of 40 countries, with several diplomats engaging in various activities. The event will host more international artists and guests, with over a thousand craftsmen showcasing their skills.

To ensure security, the police department is devising a separate security plan, installing 100 additional cameras for surveillance, raising the total to 350. The fair will have three gates for the public and one each for VVIP, VIP, and media entry. Each gate will undergo stringent security checks, and bar coding will be implemented on every ticket. Robust arrangements for the fair’s security will include a temporary police line within the Surajkund International Crafts Fair premises. The entire fairground, parking areas, and surrounding locations will be under high-speed CCTV camera surveillance.

The fair will operate from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily. Large and small amphitheaters will host continuous cultural programs at an international level, featuring artists from India and abroad. Beyond professional artists, schoolchildren will also showcase their talents. Daily competitions for children are planned, adding an element of excitement. The event promises an amalgamation of cultural richness, artistic excellence, and vibrant performances. The fair, celebrated for its diversity and global participation, continues to be a platform fostering cultural exchange and appreciation.
