Baripada: A gang attempting to loot an ATM arrived in an expensive car and abandoned it halfway to evade the police in Mayurbhanj district near Raniabandh Ganganahar. The incident unfolded when the gang, unsuccessful in crossing a bamboo bridge over a canal, left the car and fled the scene. Later, the police recovered a gas cutter, spray, face mask, and a shirt from the abandoned car. Authorities suspect the gang’s involvement in two ATM heists in the Balasore area of Baleswar on Wednesday night.
The police’s suspicion arises from the recovered items matching those used in the recent ATM robberies. They speculate that the gang might have lost their way and attempted to navigate the bamboo bridge improperly. The thwarted attempt resulted in them abandoning the car and fleeing the scene.
Due to their failed crossing, the criminals left the vehicle behind and escaped. Another group from the same gang was reportedly in a Bolero car. When the police attempted to apprehend both vehicles, they attempted to flee. The vehicles used in the crime were registered in Jharkhand. The police suspect an international connection to the gang and have seized the vehicle in Khunta. Investigations are currently underway.
This incident reveals the audacious and daring nature of criminal activities, with the gang resorting to high-profile vehicles for their unlawful endeavors. The foiled attempt and subsequent police pursuit shed light on the challenges law enforcement faces in tackling organized criminal networks that operate across state borders. As investigations progress, the authorities aim to uncover the full extent of the gang’s activities and potential connections, highlighting the need for collaborative efforts in combating cross-border criminal enterprises.
