Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma emphasized the government’s commitment to curbing illegal mining, especially in the case of sand mining. He stated that stringent and effective action is crucial to stopping unauthorized mining activities in the state.

During a meeting, the Chief Minister directed the police, district administration, forest department, transportation department, and mining department to conduct a 5-day joint operation against the mining mafia. He underscored the need for firm measures to tackle the issue of illegal mining effectively. Furthermore, the Chief Minister instructed the Chief Secretary to chair a task force, ensuring regular meetings to strategize and prevent illegal mining in the future.

In an effort to gather relevant information, the Chief Minister held discussions with police, administrative officials, and departmental authorities regarding illegal mining. He issued strict orders to all district police chiefs to take decisive action against those involved in illegal mining activities. The Chief Minister stressed that strict law enforcement is essential to instill fear among those engaged in illegal mining activities.

Looking ahead, the Chief Minister announced the formation of a task force at the collectorate level for the joint campaign against illegal mining. He urged officials to use modern technology, including drones, to monitor and control illegal mining effectively.

The Chief Minister of Rajasthan also directed officials to ensure that mining activities across the state adhere to regulations, focusing on preventing illegal mining and promoting legitimate mining practices. Regular auctions of mining leases were also emphasized to maintain transparency and accountability.

Additionally, the Chief Minister instructed mining department officials to provide regular reports on illegal mining activities and present a report on the actions taken in the last 10 days. District collectors were directed to establish a district helpline number for public assistance.

In the meeting, officials highlighted the positive impact of mining activities on revenue generation, employment creation, and other state development aspects. The comprehensive approach discussed in the meeting reflects the government’s commitment to addressing the issue of illegal mining through coordinated efforts across various departments.
