Meerut: On Sunday night, the police apprehended SP leader Mukesh Siddharth in Delhi after he made controversial statements threatening to burn alive Dr. Somendra Tomar, the Energy Minister. The arrest took place swiftly, with the police reaching him at the Civil Lines police station. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday morning.

The backdrop to this development was a violent clash among factions in the Meerut Municipal Corporation, leading to altercations during a demonstration at the Meerut court on Saturday. Opposition leaders were also present during the protest. Mukesh Siddharth, during his address at the demonstration, issued a provocative statement, asserting that if Dr. Somendra Tomar was not arrested, they would set him on fire and ignite a fire at his residence. However, opposition leaders distanced themselves from Siddharth’s remarks, expressing disapproval.

Following this, a case was filed against Mukesh Siddharth on Saturday night at the Civil Lines police station for delivering an inflammatory speech. Since then, the police had been actively searching for him. It was reported that Siddharth was hiding in Delhi, prompting the police to intensify their efforts to locate and apprehend him.
