Chhattisgarh: Under the shadow of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), Eid-Ul-Fitr this year will lack the usual fervour and celebrations. People remained indoors and avoided customary meetings with family, friends, and relatives to maintain physical distancing and check crowd at public places.

Outdoor celebrations and other public events were curtailed or cancelled to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.  Chhattisgarh State Wakf Board has released guidelines on the occasion of Eid on account of which only 5 people will be allowed to pray in the mosques or dargahs. Action will be taken against the concerned Imams for violating the rules. A majority of the crowd will offer their prayers at home and stern monitoring on crowding near dargahs and crematoriums is announced. Additional district magistrate NR Sahu had held a meeting of social heads over the Eid festival. All senior police officials and Muslim community heads also attended the meeting.
