The construction work was underway on the village road, which connects further to Koyarkoti, where Naxalites torched the machine and the vehicle engaged in the work, a police official said.
Naxalites also put up a pamphlet in the area, calling for a nationwide bandh on December 22, the police said.
Earlier on Sunday night, on the second day of the resistance week, Naxalites set fire to the pump house located in NMDC’s mine in Akashnagar of Bacheli police station area of Chhattisgarh. The violence continued for 15 days wherein Naxalites called a nationwide bandh on December 22. The motor of the pump house was burnt in the incident on Monday. The work of the mine was affected due to stoppage of water supply from the pump on Monday. Under The Naxal Eradication Campaign being run by Dantewada Police, Police arrested 10 Naxalites. All these Naxalites were involved in arson incidents.
