New Delhi: The Pradesh Congress has targeted the Central Home Minister over the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report figures. According to Congress, Delhi tops the nation in crimes against women, despite being the capital under the direct jurisdiction of the central government. The Congress alleges the failure of the central government in handling law and order and women’s safety in Delhi. In this matter, the Congress also criticizes the Delhi state government. They accuse the Delhi assembly of not discussing law and order in the past ten years.

Leaders including Pradesh Congress President Arvinder Singh Lovely, former legislator Mukesh Sharma, Alka Lamba, Chatar Singh, and Anuj Aatreya stated in a press conference that during the Nirbhaya case, both the BJP and AAP had brought Delhi to a standstill. They claim that their leaders were actively involved, holding candles and protesting, but now there is silence regarding crimes against women. This, they argue, proves that leaders of both parties staged a drama on the streets to gain power instead of genuinely empathizing with women.

Lovely, referring to the NCRB report, expressed concern that Delhi leads the country in crimes against women. He points out the severe shortage of over 13,000 positions in the Delhi Police, contributing to the rising crime rate. The Congress leaders accuse the BJP of playing politics, fearing questions directed at their government and Home Minister. In contrast, they claim that Congress leaders are willing to collaborate with the Home Minister to address women’s safety concerns.

The press conference highlighted the escalating crime rates, emphasizing the need for effective measures to ensure women’s security. The Congress leaders urge a collaborative effort between political parties and the central and state governments to create a safer environment for women in Delhi and across the country.
